Temporary NerfHaven archive
Posted by btrettel on April 6, 2011
I have made a temporary NerfHaven archive for those who wish to browse threads while NH is down.
Also, would anyone be interested in a small forum for this blog? I am thinking I’d like to discuss some topics not typically covered at Nerf forums, like, for example, “concept” threads (where the merits of a concept are discussed), ballistic modeling, engineering, and advanced pneumatic Nerf guns. I basically just want a place where like-minded folks can discuss some things not typically covered elsewhere.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

I’d be interested without a doubt. NH doesn’t tolerate concept threads and SpudFiles members could care less about Nerf guns. Such a forum would fill the void. Hopefully enough people would take an interest in it.

Good to hear. I’ll see if I have the time to make a forum tomorrow afternoon.
As I won’t be going to grad. school next semester now (This is a long story, but it’s for the best in the long run) I should have more free time to work on things. I am really looking forward to just being done at 5 pm and not having to worry about anything else for the rest of the day.

I look forward to it. I would like to hear your story though if you’d be willing to share; it could influence my future plans.

I’ll detail it fully later at the forum.
The short version: I wouldn’t get any funding for research, which is not atypical for a Master’s student, but is definitely a big factor in whether or not I’ll continue at UMD. I also started thinking about what I actually want to accomplish with my life and I realized that it’s best for me to take my time and evaluate everything very methodically and objectively. I basically was rushing into grad. school without thinking about the big picture.
It’s not unlikely I will eventually return to get a MS or PhD, but I will be far more focused when or if I do return to school.
The only advice I can give you is to have a good idea about what your goals are and to plan ahead. Don’t do everything ad-hoc as I have.
